The Andis T-Outliner – The Final Cut
Not surprisingly, the T-Outliner is right up there with the best trimmers on the market. Where it excels above the Outliner 2 (and many others) is in the details, literally.
When you need to do an edge-up or detail, this is the trimmer you should turn to.
The primary difference with this trimmer and the Outliner 2 is the T-blade, thus the name T-Outliner. The T-blade extends over the head of the trimmer ever so slightly, giving you the ability to really work in the smallest of areas while ensuring a super clean cut every single time.
While the Outliner 2 is great for close-up work, the T-Outliner is better. Not only can it get up close and personal with its zero-gap blade, but it can handle the details like nothing else.

Andis Outliner 2 vs T-Outliner Verdict
If you’ve read through the first part of this article, you know I’m leaning towards the T-Outliner. It does everything one would need, while also providing a little more control over detail work.
Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s obvious that these are both fantastic trimmers, but when you know you have a lot of detail work to do, you’ll pick up the T-Outliner every time.
Similarities
- Strong, fast motors with 7,200 SPM. The faster that the blades move, the smoother the cut. Lower SPM motors can actually grab/pull the hair, leaving for user discomfort and, at times, ingrown hairs.
- Works on most hair types. Both trimmers are great for hair on the head, facial hair and chest hair but can easily be used on other parts of the body as well. If you need to do a lot of body work, we would suggest the Outliner 2 over the T-Outliner.
- Easy to grip body with grooves. You should have no problem holding on to either of these in the middle of a sessions, even with wet or oily hands. Some manufacturers focus more on aesthetics, resulting in smoother, more slippery grips. Andis maintained an aesthetically pleasing body style while ensuring great functionality too.
- Long 8ft. power cord. While this is standard with most hair clippers and trimmers, I still thought I’d mention it. Unless you’re a fan of cordless hair clippers and trimmers, it’s nice to have adequate cord length for moving around the shop.

Differences
- The T-blade setup is the primary difference between these two models. The T-Outliner has a special T-blade which makes it super easy to do perform detailed cuts that the Outliner 2 can’t quite match.
- The T-Outliner gets a little warmer. Due to the larger blade, it has to do more work, and it gets a little warmer than the Outliner 2. This will mostly happen while making longer, detailed cuts where the motor will be running for some time.
- The T-Outliner is a little louder. Again, because the T-Outliner uses a larger blade, it is a little louder than the Outliner 2. This probably won’t make or break your decision as it shouldn’t be noticeable enough for it to be an issue.
The overall winner is the T-Outliner for most jobs, especially if you find yourself doing a lot of intricate cutting.
On the other hand, if you happen to be reading this in search of a professional trimmer to have at home, the Outliner 2 is a great choice if you do a lot of body trimming.
While some will use either one interchangeably, the T-Outliner is going to be the best bang for your buck for all the pro’s out there.
